Air Conditioning, Heating & HVAC FAQs
Do you offer 24 hour AC repair near me?
Yes. Our dispatch lines are answered by a live person 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays, for 24 hour AC repair, emergency air conditioning repair, emergency heating repair and same day HVAC repair. Call (209) 309-1834 in California or (329) 202-9924 in New York.
How fast is same day AC repair?
In metro areas we frequently arrive within 2-4 hours. In rural, mountain and island communities we usually schedule within 24 hours. You get a real arrival window and a text when the technician is en route.
Do you charge extra for nights, weekends or holidays?
No. We charge the same flat diagnostic rate around the clock. No overtime or after-hours premiums.
How much does AC repair cost?
Common repairs run $150-$550 (capacitors, contactors, ignitors, sensors, thermostats). Larger repairs such as blower or condenser motors, coils, refrigerant leak repair or compressor replacement range from about $450 to $3,500. You approve a flat price before work begins. See our cost guide for a full breakdown.
Why is my AC not blowing cold air?
The most common causes are a clogged filter, a failed run capacitor, a dirty condenser coil, low refrigerant from a leak, a frozen evaporator coil, a burned contactor, or a tripped condensate float switch. We measure the system instead of guessing.
My furnace is not working and I have no heat. Is that an emergency?
If indoor temperatures are dropping into the 50s, someone in the home is medically vulnerable, or you smell gas or your CO alarm sounds, treat it as an emergency and call immediately. Otherwise we can usually book a next-morning appointment.
Do you repair heat pumps, boilers and ductless mini splits?
Yes - including inverter-driven mini splits from Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu and LG, heat pump reversing valves, defrost boards, auxiliary heat strips, and support for homes with hot water or steam boilers plus separate AC.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We work with properly licensed HVAC contractors in each state and EPA Section 608 certified technicians, and we carry general liability and workers compensation coverage. Every technician is background checked.
Do you pull permits on installations?
Yes. Equipment replacements generally require a permit and code compliance documentation. We handle the paperwork and the inspection.
Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?
If the repair exceeds roughly 30% of replacement cost, the system is 15+ years old, or it uses phased-out R-22 refrigerant and has a leak, replacement usually wins. We quote both options side by side.
Do you offer maintenance plans?
Yes. Seasonal AC tune-ups and furnace tune-ups are available individually or as an annual plan with priority scheduling and repair discounts.
What payment methods and financing do you accept?
Cash, check, all major credit cards, and financing on qualifying installations and larger repairs.
Do you serve my city?
We serve every city in California and New York - 2851 of them. Find yours on our locations page.
Do you work on commercial HVAC?
Yes. Rooftop package units, split systems, light commercial equipment and preventive maintenance contracts, with after-hours availability so we don't interrupt your business.
How often should I change my air filter?
Every 1-3 months for standard 1-inch filters, and monthly during heavy pollen, smoke or if you have pets or allergies. Media filters typically last 6-12 months.
Why is my furnace short cycling?
Most often a dirty filter or restricted airflow tripping the high limit, but it can also be an oversized system, low refrigerant on a heat pump, a badly placed thermostat, or a blocked flue. It needs diagnosis, not guessing - short cycling destroys equipment.
